My Ford Taurus has been in my family since 1998 – it’s a 1997 GL (which means close to base model) with a mere 28K miles on it… I first recieved the vehicle (given to me by mom) after a frontal collision with a man who ran a red light. The Taurus held up so well with minmal damage, and to that we were both impressed. I’d rather be safe than trapped! I ended up fixing the car with new body panels and parts to make it look almost new again. I began to grow a fondness for it and named it “Lil Red Bomb” or L.R.B for short. This car made my love of vehicles grow, and I wanted to learn more about internals, so I began tearing into the car peice by peice. The car now has slotted and drilled rotors, a ported and polished intake, Taurus SHO spoiler, seat, front bumper, grab handles, a 10 CD changer installed in the trunk and many other things – all of which my Taurus allowed me to learn how to do for myself! Now, 10 years later, LRB is MY car. It’s a great representation of me and my style, while also safely toting my son and I everywhere. This car now has 157K miles and still going strong… I work in a parts store now and I believe I partially owe that to my car. Thanks, Ford for creating the odd-ball Jelly Bean Taurus! By the way, if you’re wondering what new car my mother bought after she gave me the Taurus, it was a 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium!
