A Father’s Love
By
Stephanie R.

My husband’s father, Johnny Rayborn, Sr. told his children that if they bought anything other than a Ford Truck, they couldn’t park it in his yard. While it was said in “jest,” he meant every word of it; because in his farming days his farm trucks were Fords. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy and love for Ford Trucks lives on with his sons.

Thanksgiving 2009, several of his children traveled back to McComb, MS for a family visit and thus the making of this story.

Four of his seven sons own Ford trucks, F-150s to be exact. They have each owned multiple Ford trucks and/or utility vehicles over the years. The view in the yard quickly started to look like a F-150 Convention. What a nostalgic site to see the F-150s converge at the home of their parents. Since their parents, Johnny and Patsy Rayborn are both deceased, every visit is nostalgic and somehow seeing my husband, Bobby and his brothers arrive in their trucks caused me to remember the story that he had previously shared about his father’s love for Ford trucks.

It was a sight to behold and the picture does not quite do it justice. As you can see, they have all been good little boys and stayed true to their father’s love for them and Ford. This picture gives a whole new meaning to the 1920’s Ford slogan “Pride of ownership.”

What a beautiful story.
My father used to be a GM man, but now I am a Ford man, due to Ford's impressive run as of late. The sense of community that the Ford family embraces, and their visionary efforts to move ahead under diffucult cirtcumstances is to be applauded, I think my father would agree. I think if my father was here we drive idenical trucks. Merry Christmas. Reply

This is truly a close and beautiful family of people that I have been close to since I was a little girl riding the same bus with most of the family. I am so sorry that the bus we all rode together was not a ford. To the Rayborn family, you are still truly loved, and much thanks to Mom Patsy and Daddy Johnny. Reply

Enjoyed reading the story. One of my earliest memories of Uncle Johnny was the "Red Ford Tractor" use the plot the fields. And uncle saying I would not used any other truck "FORD"to plot my field after converting from the mule and plow. During the course of his life (84 years) he purchased a number of Ford tractors, trucks and cars. Reply

Hi:

I have a Ford Escape XLS whatever that means. But, let me tell you something it is the best driving SUV. The versality of this vechicle is phenominal!!/ I loaned it to a friend twice because he had to get to work and his car broke down. He actually got angry with me because I would not let him drive it again! His quote was it drives like a limo!!!/I have got to get one!!

Peace,

I bleed Ford blue. I can relate to this story. I have had two Mustangs, an Explorer, and an Escort over the last few years. For two years, I've been driving an F-150 and my fiancee has been driving a Mustang. We are expecting our first child in a couple months and I told her the same thing. "If my kids every buy anything other than a Ford, they can't park it in the yard." It's good to finally see Ford come back to the greatness that its quietly deserved for many years. Live on!!! Reply

I like the four sons above had a father that loves Ford trucks. I drove a 08 F-150 crew cab while my dad drove a 08 crew cab long bed 6.4L diesel dually, that I drive now since my father passed away, My grandpa drives a 02 F-150 ext cab. Like grandpa like father like son. My mother, my brother, my sister, and my grandma all drive Ford cars and trucks. We are all poud of our fords and when I say "Family Tradition" I mean it. I well never trust any other truck than a ford truck. Reply

I can totally relate to this story, I will own nothing but a Ford, never have, never will. I currently have a 2010 Lincoln MKX, a 2005 Ford Focus (the wife's cars), a 2006 Ford F350 Crew Cab FX4 King Ranch dually with the 6.0, a 1999 Ford F250 Super Cab 4x4 Lariat with the 7.3, a 1989 Ford F700 with a 6.6, a 1975 Ford F350 dually, and a 1954 Ford NAA farm tractor. Needless to say my driveway looks like a Ford lot. In addition, between my wife and me, we have owned over the years: a 1970 Ford F100 Custom, a 1974 Ford F100 Ranger XLT Lariat 4x4, a 1979 Ford F150 4x4, a 1985 Ford Explorer XLT Lariat 4x4 F150, a 1989 Ford F350 Lariat 4x4 with the 7.3, a 1987 Ford Mustang LX, a 1992 Ford Mustang GT, a 1979 Ford LTD Landau, and a 1995 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4. My mom and my dad both have always owned Fords. My dad says that he has never owned anything but a Ford, except for a 1949 Mercury. My mom will not even consider any car, except a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury. We Bleed Blue and have for over 50 years. Reply
