I have to say that I would not have otherwise looked into the Edge...just not that big in to the look of it. However, it's looking like it will be my next new car because of this awesome technology. I am super excited to test drive this tomorrow! Not sure if I'll get the navigation SD though - the screen utilizes SYNC navigation ... right? What are the benefits of the $750 +/- SD Card? Love the smooth controls below the screen - That is a HUGE pet peeve for me! I love my car being clean - one of the hardest areas to keep clean is the climate and audio control portion. Exciting!

LOL! You sound like my wife! (no offense...she is really awesome)! Anyhow - the difference about this and other high-tech in-car electronic systems is the systemic approach to the voice activation. There are flat menus and submenus; logical and intuitive. All one would need to do is to learn root commands then a few intuitive sub-menu commands. I suggest a person who is intrigued by this technology but finds themselves confused with how to work it is read the manual first. Plus, there are three ways to control entertainment, climate, navigation and phone. Those ways are right cluster controls & screen, voice and touch screen.

You do mention something noteworthy ... a lot of the awe-inspiring features are simply NOT safe to use while driving...such as watching video, searching though photos and playing video games. Fortunately, Ford would agree and requires a car is in park in order to use those features. Still pretty cool if you're camping or something - but I don't find it likely that I'll use those features often. But, after wiping the drool from the corner of my mouth, I realized that the MyFord Touch is simply an extraordinary system that screams "BUY ME" to the tech savvy and the young.

Well if someone wants to be an idiot and go hacking the car's electronics to make it more convenient for them to kill themselves on the highway, I don't see how that is Ford's fault. They are not responsible for keeping you alive on the road beyond making a vehicle that is safe from the factory, and the system is safe enough. Just like you can't blame Ford if you decide to go into a turn at 40mph on an icy road and crash. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE AN IDIOT PROOF CAR OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT. Contrary to their name, idiots ted to get smarter and find more ingenious ways to kill themselves. Sooner or later people have to learn to drive responsibly instead of having car companies hold their hand.

I agree with Steven. The electronics interface also appeal to my generation 50-60 and I look forward to using it with the tools I utilize, like the I-Phone, laptop, etc. I own two Fords (a Freestyle mini van and a Ford F-150) and I was actually considering buying a Toyota to replace the Mini-Van. I soon realized that Ford is doing an excellent job of stating abreast of making changes to the products lines that are appealing to all generations.

Jim, I totally agree. I checked out Ford through my companies partenr plan, and fell in love with my fusion. Granted, it will be a few years (hopefully) before i go buy another one, but if Ford continues down this road, they will be extremely successful.

I just hope that I do have to be forced to have Satelliet Radio on my stereo. I cannot stand that service and it irks me that I have be forced to have on my stereo. As for the Tech stuff. A in dash GPS is a must!
On the note of the Transit. Why is it so powerless??? Yikes! it is gutless. I test drove one and it is just weak! I cannot imagine what is going to happen once it is loaded down. Please build a Transit with more strength.

For someone who has purchased eight Fords, you sure have nothing great to say about those cars. You're describing technology that's probably already available in a Mercedes or BMW that I can only assume you can't afford like most normal people. It's no secret that European auto manufacturers have always been ahead of America and continue to offer the safety and reliability we would all love to have in an affordable car, but that's the problem right there, the cost. We need an auto manufacturer who realizes that and makes these technologies available on ALL models as standard equipment and not extras.

I couldn't have said it any better. I bought a new Fusion and thought the sync was a waist, But now I love it. I can make a phone call without taking my eyes off the road.
