My 2002 Excursion diesel with chip and hho adaptor is averiging 36.6 mpg . Why should I think of a hybrid? Come on you all can do much better if you want and all you need to do is remove the oxygen sencer and add the hyg. to the fule system not the air intake.

Ford is now upcoming with a hybrid car named as Ford Fusion. The look is quiet similar to Honda Clarity,it offers nothing new. Interiors are just very average. The Fusion can work under three modes-electric, gas and a combination of both. Performance-wise, it is just average.

While the current Fusion hybrid is nice, I'm looking for something more advanced. I think the 3.0L V-6 with cylinder deactivation is a better engine for the hybrid because you have three stage power for the car: battery, 1.5L and 3.0L.

The company should offer an ATB option as well to increase traction and reduce front tire wear.

Very impressed with my Ford Fusion Hybrid. The best mileage recorded to my workplace, five miles, was 63.7 mpg ! I regularly get 43 mpg. Amazing!

I get 34 on the highway at 80 mph. I guess those guys getting 36 mpg drive slower. They are probably smarter too.

Diesel hybrids are a challenge. Diesels need to stay hot to be efficient. Also diesel's biggest advantage over gas engines is at idle and part throttle applications; precisely where a hybrid can just turn the engine off. Diesel hybrids may happen, but more likely is an old fashioned knock down match between turbo-charged diesels and gas hybrids.

When are we going to see the Diesel Hybrid that some manufacturers are working on. This will put up the miles by another notch and will save more imported oil.
