Any car of similar size could have provided the requisite space. Heck, you probably would have been just as well off in a decent carriage from the 19th century, although if you feel the car did the job more comfortably than a horse and buggy, you could thank the Frenchman, Nicholas Joseph Cugnot, for having invented the automobile, in 1769. Alternatively, you might thank the USA for providing the infrastructure. Or thank the Milky Way Galaxy for having provided the conditions for Earth to grow into an advanced life supporting planet.
