Inside Ford Racing at the Daytona 500
Inside Ford Racing at the Daytona 500

Ford Racing is determined to have a strong year in 2010. And it has the hardware, people and teams it needs to make it happen.

The season starts with the Daytona 500 – in its 52 year – and we’ll give you pit-row and garage access to the Ford teams through the lens of ace photographer, Brad Stanley. During testing and qualifying, and even through the Daytona 500 race itself, Brad will be posting new photos to this page every day.

There’s a lot new for Ford Racing this year, starting with a new Ford Racing director, Jamie Allison. Jamie is a 22-year Ford veteran with experience in engineering, product planning and marketing. Some of that experience was directly with Ford Racing when he led the Ford Racing Performance Parts business, as well as North America Motorsports Marketing.

Richard Petty Enterprises also joins Ford Racing for 2010, adding AJ Allmendinger, Kasey Kahne, Paul Menard and Elliott Sadler as drivers. This team is addition to long-time Ford stalwarts Wood Brothers and Roush Fenway Racing, and a long list of quality drivers including Bill Elliott who qualified fourth for this year’s Daytona 500.

Along with a new director, new team and new drivers, Ford Racing also has a new engine. Codenamed the FR9, this is the first engine designed specifically for this type of racing. It features a revised cooling system and valvetrain, and improvements that will make it much easier and faster to assemble.

There will be new pictures posted daily from Daytona, so check back regularly for the latest look inside Ford Racing.
