But I am one, last I checked—and I’m not the least bit interested in “active park assist.” So why mention it? Because a friend attending BlogHer ‘09 mentioned that Ford is there, trying to actively engage and court women and find out what it is they want in their cars. One of the big things they’re pushing is what you see in the video above: Active Park Assist.

Ford Asks What Women Want
In preparation for a “What Women Want” roundtable discussion, Ford has asked us to think about what we want in a vehicle, as well as to ask our readers what they are looking for. Honestly, I don’t think that much about what I want in a car until I need to buy one. And then I spend the next X years cursing out the lack of a certain feature or the improper design of a particular element in the car I choose.

Catch Up Lady: Ford's What Women Want Quality & Tech Event
In all seriousness, one of the big social media programs I've been working on for Ford is an event that happened today in Chicago - the What Women Want Quality & Tech Event with BlogHer.com. So when I first heard about the Ford BlogHer** event, I jumped at the opportunity to participate. We will be taking a tour of a Ford assembly plant, test driving some new Ford models and engaging in what will likely be a lively discussion of women’s thoughts on quality in automobiles.

Thursday, I went to the Ford: What Women Want event. I learned a ton of stuff and had a great time there. It parellel parked itself!!! ITSELF!

Today, I was a participant in the Ford What Women Want: Vehicle Tech and Quality Event. This was my first tour of a car assembly line, which was awesome, and we learned A LOT about bio materials, new safety features, and sweet gadgets like Park Assist, parallel parks for you. (seriously, I saw it in action)

Scrutiny by the Masses: What Women Want - A Ford Event
I have been chosen to participate in the Ford Drive event while I'm in Chicago. I was going to write a post about it - and I ran flat out of time, but beautiful, gorgeous Headless Mom wrote EXACTLY what I was going to AND graciously agreed that I could borrow it. I adore her.

mommy bytes: What Do Women Want in a Vehicle?
Being a gearhead and a mom, I have a long list of requirements for a motor vehicle. Some of them are ridiculous, like it must have a manual transmission, which rules out the entire class of minivans (birth control through avoidance of minivans). Other requirements are mom-related, like it must have at least four doors.
